Salmon

Salmon is a Superfood and is part of what I call, the Superfoods family. Don’t hesitate to have a look on my other article “Superfoods” if you don’t remember what a Superfood is.

A high source of Omega-3, vitamin D and selenium.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends eating one to two servings of fish a week due to its beneficial effects on health.

Salmon is known as a superfood, thanks to its high Omega-3 content and its high content of vitamin D and selenium. Selenium is an antioxidant. Don’t hesitate to have a look on my other article “Superfoods” if you don’t remember what an antioxidant is.

Omega-3 are very good for the health and contribute to:

-Increase levels of HDL (the “good cholesterol”).
-Speed up weight loss.
-Improve eye health.
-Reduce inflammation symptoms.
-Contribute to soften and improve the health of the skin.

The omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil are also important during pregnancy.
Omega-3s are essential for the growth and development of the fetus and baby.

Do not forget that these are in no way some “miracle” food, capable of saving us from diseases. The basis to have a good health is simply to eat healthy and to exercise!
